Timeline: 3 Months

Skills: Typography, Layout, Design Systems

Over the past three months, I developed four fonts. During the making of these four fonts, I learned more about lay design typography and component/design systems than ever. The pixel fonts helped with layout and form. The stencil font helps with the system and reusing and sharing elements. Finally, the abstract font was all about the design system and creating something with just a hint of logic.

I was inspired by video games and retro gaming and computer art. These fonts focused on limited space giving maximum form.

These fonts are one of the quicker to make because of how limited I was. There not much room for debate on adding extras it’s all about subtraction on this project.

Inspired by Syfy military, this font was meant to be used for signs to be plaster across ships cars and even tech interfaces. A font like this reusing part of other characters makes it essential to keep it looking consistent.

With both upper and lower case font being designed, it was supper import to make it, so they both work together and support each other. Because this is mostly a display font, I did not have to worry too much about the font's small size, but it was vital that it would still be legible.

Used an iOS icon grid as a base along with only using circles and triangle as parts with the variation being filled and just stroked.

This was more of a learning experience that improved my UI and UX knowledge. Not just in how fonts are made and used but in structure from along with developing systems. It even reflects real work with goals and objectives—much more than just redesigning and app or website.
